U-Pick Cherries in Auberry at Mountain Brook Ranch

Mountain Brook Ranch has cherries that are part of my childhood (I grew up with their awesome kids). I'm sad that I never knew that they allowed u-pick until last year, I was just used to buying that white bag of cherries from their stand in Auberry after school. Starting mid to late May depending on the weather, cherry season will be upon us and available at Mountain Brook Ranch with a variety of cherries throughout the season.
Know if the cherries are ready before you make the drive, just north of Clovis.
Call:
Mountain Brook Ranch
(559) 299-8141
17971 Auberry Rd, Clovis, CA 93619

I received this information from this Fresno Bee article in 2010 if you want to know more. Click HERE.

The U-Pick orchard was ready in the last weekend of May in 2011. Open 9am-6pm on weekends for your picking enjoyment!  Their regular hours are 9am-6pm if you just want to buy your own white bags! Yum. It's 6 miles north of Copper on Auberry Rd.

Last year the U-pick cherries were $1.85 a lb! Support a local farm family and don't miss it this year!

UPDATE: DUE TO A SHORT CHERRY SEASON THIS YEAR THERE WILL BE NO U-PICK! SO SAD, BUT OF COURSE YOU CAN STILL STOP BUY TO PURCHASE DELICIOUS CHERRIES!

Transitional Kindergarten for children turning Five between Sept 2-Dec 2, 2012

Transitional Kindergarten is a new early learning program launched in Fresno Unified to provide a more rigorous preparation for Kindergarten for children born between September 2, 2012 and December 2012. The requirements for Kindergarten are being increased because of the change in admission to Kindergarten happening by 2015. Soon children must be 5 entering Kindergarten. Previously December 2 has been the cut off, so you had children entering school at the age of four and turning five during the school year.
The registration for Transitional Kindergarten has already begun, and classes are offered at 35 schools in Fresno Unified for the 2012-2013 school year. Transitional Kindergarten is not mandatory and will use resources already available at the school sites.

Addams, Bakman, Balderas, Birney, Burroughs, Calwa, Centennial, Columbia, Del Mar, Easterby, Ewing, Figarden, Fremont, Hidalgo, Kratt, Leavenworth, Lowell, Mayfair, Muir, Norseman, Olmos, Pyle, Roeding, Rowell, Slater, Storey, Thomas, Turner, Viking, Vinland, Williams, Wilson, Winchell, Wolters and Yokomi.

Admission requires the following:

Proof of Residence
Proof of Age
Home Language Survey
Up to Date Shot Record
Physical after March 1st or within one year of starting Kindergarten
Dental Screening by 2013

To Enter Regular Kindergarten
For the 2012-13 school year, students must have turned five on or before Nov.1.
For the 2013-14 school year, students must have turned five on or before Oct. 1.
For the 2014-15 school year and each school year thereafter, students must have turned five on or
before Sept. 1.

To learn more contact the participating school nearest you.

Right now they are being very strict about the age limitations. I have a child born in late August who will not qualify (and that makes me sad).
